Last year we read about Sophie Stone in the Bucks Free Press. It is a name you may not recognise yet – but watch this space!! Sophie is a young single mum from High Wycombe, who despite having a profound hearing loss from birth against the odds was awarded a place at the world famous Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Sophie is the first ever deaf student to attend RADA. Winning the place was just the start of her journey – she has faced many challenges – not least coping with her deafness in difficult situations but also managing her studies and a daily commute into London whilst ably bringing up her 6 year old daughter Angel – who is a complete credit to her. We have helped Sophie, financially in a very small way, through her first year and we are pleased to continue to support her as she embarks upon her second year.
If you would like to find out more about Sophie's experiences at RADA or would be interested in joining us to sponsor Sophie please click on the link and send an email to kate@astonhearing.co.uk .
