Les Powney brings over two decades of clinical experience and a distinctive blend of technical and people skills to Aston Hearing. Originally graduating with a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Exeter, Les began his career in desktop publishing software before realising his passion lay in working more directly with people.
In 2004, he retrained in audiology in Manchester, achieving distinction in both theoretical and practical exams. Since then, Les has supported thousands of people with their hearing needs across both NHS and private sectors. His depth of experience and compassionate approach have made him a trusted voice in hearing care.
Les is a strong advocate for independent hearing care, believing it provides clients with the most advanced diagnostic tools and access to the very latest in hearing technology.
His favourite sound? Unrestrained, heartfelt laughter — the kind that fills a room and brings people together.
We often hesitate to acknowledge or act on hearing loss. But since the pandemic, I’ve noticed a growing openness in addressing the communication challenges that hearing loss brings. It’s a positive shift.
