Hearing Assessments at Aston Hearing

At Aston Hearing, we believe that truly personalised care begins with a free comprehensive hearing assessment. Whether you’re noticing subtle changes or experiencing more pronounced difficulties, your hearing journey starts with a detailed, one-to-one consultation with one of our experienced audiologists.

Set within the calm surroundings of our boutique hearing clinics in Amersham, Thame, and Princes Risborough, your assessment will be tailored to your individual needs, offering clarity, reassurance, and expert advice on the next steps—whatever they may be.

Your Initial Hearing Consultation

Duration: 60–75 minutes

Fee: None. Our hearing tests are completely complementary, designed to enable you to better understand your hearing.

Your first consultation includes:

  • A discussion of your aural and medical history
  • Examination of your ears and auditory canal
  • Pure tone audiometry – a non-invasive test that measures the quietest sounds you can hear at different pitches
  • An explanation of your audiogram – a visual representation of your hearing profile
  • Tailored advice on communication strategies or hearing solutions if needed

At Aston Hearing, there’s no pressure to proceed with hearing aids. Many of our clients leave with valuable communication strategies, and if amplification is recommended, we will provide a full, written report for you to review in your own time.

Upon request, we can supply you with a full report and any necessary medical referrals.

Understanding Your Audiogram

Your audiogram plots frequency (pitch) against intensity (volume), helping both you and your audiologist to see exactly where hearing loss is occurring.
We use this visual tool to demonstrate how your hearing profile may affect your ability to communicate, especially in complex or noisy environments.

The goal is not just to show you your hearing level, but to give you a clearer understanding of your hearing health and how it may be supported moving forward.

What Happens Next?

If hearing aids are recommended and you choose to proceed, we’ll guide you through the next steps with care and precision.

  • Confirmation of your chosen hearing solution
  • A clear, written contract and invoice (payable at the fitting stage)
  • Ear impressions for custom-made hearing aids or moulds
  • Production time: approximately 14–21 days

Duration: 60 minutes

  • Initial fitting of your bespoke hearing aid(s)
  • Programming and fine-tuning based on your audiogram and lifestyle
  • Instruction on use, care, cleaning, and battery changes
  • We’ll set realistic objectives and expectations for your hearing journey
  • Payment taken and review appointments scheduled

We’re with you throughout your adjustment period to ensure you’re getting the best possible experience from your hearing solution:

  • 1st Review: One week after fitting – to make any necessary initial adjustments
  • 2nd Review: Around two weeks post-fitting – refining settings after your period of acclimatisation
  • Further Reviews: As often as you need – we continue to support you through your hearing journey

Your hearing aids are covered by a minimum 24-month manufacturer’s warranty, and we offer unlimited aftercare during this period. You are welcome to return at any time for:

  • Adjustments and reprogramming
  • Routine check-ups
  • Advice and support

After your warranty ends, you can join our CareFree Hearing Plan, which offers:

  • Continued access to hearing aid services and reviews
  • Free wax removal
  • Discounts on repairs and accessories
Or, if preferred, you can pay as you go for individual services.

We’re confident you’ll experience a genuine improvement, but if your hearing aid(s) are not providing the expected benefit, you may return them within the 60-day trial period.

You’ll receive a full refund, minus a consultation fee of £150–£250, which covers:

  • Your initial consultation
  • Review appointments
  • Any custom fittings or consumables (e.g., moulds or batteries)

This fee is per client, not per hearing aid—even if you trial more than one device.
